In the year 2001 and 10 months,

From a fiery axis shall come an alarming paradox,

And raise again the great King of Discord,

Before and after, Mars shall reign at will.

The year seven of the great number being past,

There shall be seen the sports of the ghostly sacrifice,

Not far after the great age of the millennium,

That the buried shall come out of their graves

To howl in demonic pleasure: 'You were forewarned!'
I've been on these boards for a long time and I still don't know what to think when it comes to you -- FrantzX, December 21, 2001

"Yin": Your friendly, neighborhood negative cosmic force.

    From Civ Three's constrained view
I try to read the message new.
Ten months past two thousand and one -
    a period far from fun
    in real life
    so full of strife.

Perhaps portents in our gaming world
    have more trivial thoughts unfurled.
    So we seek refuge
    in play maps huge,
    and get relief
    from our daily grief.

you forgot the bit about armenian leader entering vienna on a horse and 'hisler' getting bologne and brabant into german wraith. otherwise, it is catastrophic enough

The name of the king is Shidma Uher...? Or is it Ou-lama-dama-ding Baden-baden? Or Giorgio Woosh?
I'm not a complete idiot: some parts are still missing.

Yin, that is some foreboading stuff. And, could actually be the true end to this Age.

              Be ready!

Why can't these prophet types just blurt it out. I swear, they make their statements so general and broad that anything could happen and it could be seen as the prophecy coming true. A good prophet would say:

"Yeah, on October 30th, Civ 3 comes out and the world is going to explode."
To us, it is the BEAST.

Yin... has Firaxis wronged you in another life?
Of the Holy Roman Empire, this was once said:
"It is neither holy or roman, nor is it an empire."

So what does "Yinstradamous"s prediction actually mean??
Im reading it as "Firaxis releases Civ 3, and everyone eventually dies from the 'One More Turn' syndrome. Then Yin laughs at us all, saying he was right all along."

Disclaimer: I never was any good at deciphering these things
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

No, no, Yin´s prophecy may be interpreted this way:

"After Firaxis releases Civ3, I will die from One More Turn Syndrome, and everyone will be laughing at me, though they have been warned before (and did not want to believe)".

Hey Yin, I always thought you would LOVE Civ3...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

There is no way that this game will be anywhere near as bad as Yin predicts.

It will sell like mad, Firaxis will be rewarded with lots of revenue, and they will reinvest that money to make us more great games.

We will get a great game, that may not be perfect (no game ever is), and we will be very happy. The CIV community will grow and become stronger, and who knows... maybe there will be a CIV 4.

                        This prediction will come true.

                          I like Jason's prediction better
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
                          - John 13:34-35 (NRSV)
