Actually it was not Scipio the African, but Cato the Elder that used this quote

I would translate it "the dice are out of the cup".
Das Ewige Friede ist ein Traum, und nicht einmal ein schöner /Moltke

Si vis pacem, para bellum /Vegetius

I like my own "Si vis pacem, para bellum".
A translation could be "If you want peace, prepare your self to war".
And I know my english is as bad as my latin.

The only latin quote ive heard is 'Veni, vidi, vici'

Good ol' Settlers 2. Everything i know, ive learnt from computer games
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

                  Thanks

But for the second sentence I was trying "You are dead." Not "You will be dead"

i donno...i always thought the most appropiate latin quote for civ was "Veni Vidi Vici"
                    No the correct version is:

Those who never came, didn't see anything and were never defeated .
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

Martinus:in that case the second sentence was ok(...es),I just thought you meant the other.

Ok now I think it's time to close this.

Well, the last time I suggested something like this I got comments about my mother

Anyway, this is probably the most educated elitary spam thread I have see for a while

To all: yeah, let's close this thread. It reminds me of when I was studying Greek, some years ago, and that brings me tender memories and... well, I gotta stop now...
