  • idea for civ trivia as a news item

Ok, DanQ continues to puts it up as a newsitem.
    Fine.

But pherhaps you should include the movements in the top-30 to make it more.............. interesting.
Like saying that #8 dropped 5 places to #13
or that the leading group is 30 points seperated from the followers since today.

Or that outside x got todays question wrong..............

*that* would make it actually interesting !

Sorry, but ive got to say to that idea. You could imagine the news item:

At present, SerpapisIV and PK are in the lead with 930 points.
And the following people stuffed up this question, scoring no points: Bob, Bill, Fred. Good luck to all the other participants!

That sort of news item would just 'rub salt in their wounds' so to speak. It would just make it worse for whoever didnt get a question right.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

For some reason my login for the Civ trivia is messed up, and I haven't been able to play for a long time.

Which is ok, since I got a late start and never had a chance at being in the top 20.

I'm in at around 400 points (current tops is 890, I think). Missed a few, got some wrong. It ISN'T a big deal. I wish they would give a little background to the correct answer, especially if you get it wrong.

Since I am not in competition with anyone else, I would not mind if we got a horse-race's commentary on it. But I WOULD like for someone to explain the answers after a delay of a day or two.
Is someone doing that somewhere?? Please post the URL.

            ...
And what is this Cartoon History, vol (1) or (2) that Firaxis is often quoting for the answer? Anyone have a source for that?

I don't see how civ trivia is a news item. It has been going on for a long time and we all know that the current leaders will remain leaders.

I personally wish it would stop being a news item - it's a waste of space!!!

And the line - "CivTriva has been updated, once again..." - as if it doesn't get updated anyway!!!

I have found the Apolyton 'news item' useful. Sometimes, after I answered the question wrong, I like to go back and review what the options were.

Same, but I think that this trivia thing is getting old!!!
