  • will civ3 be out first in Asia and Australia? (REMEMBER SMAC...)

What do u think.. two years ago, when SMAC was released.. it was available FIRST in Australia , and Asia. I think that the reason this happened is that Electronic Arts wanted to increase sales there, therefore they released it early to avoid eager people to copy the game (you know, sometimes it takes months for a game to be released there, so for many people it looks easy to copy it, even if its only to give a quick look at it)

    p.s Forgive my poor english

It's possible, many games were released in Aus/NZ first. I don't know the reason..

Everyone goes to Indonesia, gets the latest games for a few dollars (I mean about US$2.50 - US$10.00), brings them to Australia and then makes a lot of copies of the games and sells them to their friends. It happens a lot and the only way to stop it is to release them here early with a lot of fancy stuff to make the packaged game look better. And because Australian DVDs, CDs, Movies, etc. are of a different system to the USA, UK, Japan, etc. the people in those countries can't do it. I don't know the story about NZ systems or what they do.

The release date I have for CIV3 in Australia is November 19.
None, Sedentary, Roving, Restless, Raging ... damn, is that all? Where's the "massive waves of barbarians that can wipe out your civilisation" setting?

Australian DVDs are in a different "Area" to US DVDs (Although you can get Multi-Region DVD Players) and Australian videos are of a different system to the USA (VHS/Pal versus VHS/NTSC - but you can buy VCrs that will play both)

But CDs as used in Australia - both Data and Audio, are in the same format as elsewhere inthe world. That's how we can buy CDs over the internet from U.S sites such as Amazon.com etc.

Bloody typical! Nov 19 is the day after my wedding. So, how long is a reasonable time after your wedding to start playing computer games again? No doubt my fiance's estimate will be about a month after mine!

                        Bugger!!

You'd want to wait at least an hour after the wedding before starting a game of Civ 3

I do feel sorry for you tho
