linking CIV to SMAC in 1 game?

I've had this idea from the time SMAC was released :

What about entering a modified SMAC game simultaniously when your spaceship lands on Alfa Centauri ?

That way if Earth is srewed due to pollution and a new ice-age is about to set in the game can continue on Alfa Centauri...

One could even try to bluild several spaceships to save more of your population?

And arriving there one could come across 1 or more alien civ's along with other surviving civs from earth to keep it interresting...

I know this would create gameplay issues, but surely they could be worked out...

Maybe a challenge for Firaxis or the good mod-makers ?
What do you guy's think ?

There was talk of an extended game, or series. It would be Dinos-Civ-SMAC and you would be able to play it as one. I haven't heard anything on that recently. Wonder what happened.

i dont know if mod-makers could do that, cuz they might have to modify the code.

Well what would be the point the one who builds the spaceship first gets a head start on Alpha Centauri? How long would it be 1000 turns?

Play Test of Time, Extended Orgininal. After you fly to Alpha Centauri you can begin colonising it.
