Well unfortunately I don't recall previous incarnations of the civ genre ever being translated into Portuguese, but don't quote me on that though...

      language learning

Playing a computer game in a foreign language can be a great help sometimes. I played the Korean version of Caesar III and I learned lots of new vocabulary. Some of it was even useful! My wife and I were visiting an historical site one day and some of the language I learned in the game helped me figure out what some of the exhibits were about.
I bought SimCity 3000 a while ago and they included both English and Korean versions on the same CD. Very thoughtful. Microsoft Office allows you to change help and menu languages. But I digress . . . .
I think it'll be quite a while before Civ3 comes out in Korean so I'm just going to buy the English version.

In most cases the original language is the best to use as it is as the makers wanted it to be, and not a badly translated game where you almost can't understand a thing because someone in a German company has translated the game from English to German and from German to Swedish (As in Roller Coaster Tycoon). No offence against Germany, but some strings was totally mixed up, and you had no idea of what is should be.
