Depending on how you look at it. At least it makes a nice conversational piece Mind you, tins are very useful and they are rare these days, when food and other commodity goods come in paper and plastic boxes.

Don't forget, you get other extras such as the Official Strategy Guide ( like really ).

Of course they are a marketing ploy!!

However, when they are giving you something genuinly worthwhile....

Maybe they dont use tin anymore cause it is unnecessary. Just because something is rare doesnt mean its useful. Personally I dont care about having something rare if it has no use. Well alot of rare items can be sold for alot of money to very stupid ppl. But besides selling rare items to idiots there is no real use for em. And the official strategy guides usually just contain BS information that anybody can figure out on there own, and they arent needed for Civilization 3. In fact ur an idiot if u buy a strategy guide cause u can get all the info u need off the internet ( www.gamefaqs.com )

To each his own. I will buy both boxes. One is already pre-ordered.

But just because something is rare doesnt mean that its useless either... A tin has many uses, and with Civ3 pics all over it, it will look good too

Hey, I got an idea. This is pretty radical, I know. . but it - just - might - work.

DON'T spend ANY money on the limited edition, and instead, just buy the regular version. If you think that's too expensive, don't buy that one either! Nobody is making you buy anything, Firaxis isn't. They're charging the price that they want to sell it for. If that's NOT the price you want to buy it for, then tough luck! They don't have any obligation to sell it to you at the price you want. Quit whining about it.

Hehe... conner, that damned capitalism working again .

I think also there will be a 'Making of Civ3' CD, the Strategy Guide, and who knows whatelse. Maybe a coupon to the Apolyton store?

I have played alot of different video games...... crushed many an ai and many a game box.......

while i think tin cans in general are not necessary for most video games.......i LOVE the idea for civ3.

Having different versions appeals to both crowds... on Firaxis's part its smart marketing....for some die harders out there .... 15$ extra isn't too much money for "elevated" enjoyment....

At least the tin looks rustic...they did't screw that part up.... i hope the rest of the game is so lucky
