  • One more new screen?

There is one culture advisor screen that is new to me here:
Socrates: "Good is That at which all things aim, If one knows what the good is, one will always do what is good." Brian: "Romanes eunt domus"
GW 2013: "and juistin bieber is gay with me and we have 10 kids we live in u.s.a in the white house with obama"

So many views, so few replies...

Haven't seen this one but I have seen similar...what does the influence mean? Does it refer to cultural radius?

With the Great Library and Hanging Gardens having such a big cultural point in difference in comparision to such a short time and with the Pyramids and Great Library having such a small cultural point difference in comparision to such a long time this brings me to this question will each wonder provide a different amount of cultural points (e.g. Pyramids 5 when first built, Hanging Gardens 10 when first built)? Or is it this way because of the time intervals changing?
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

Well we have a Japanese culture screen here. 8Cities and their culture points, plus Kyoto, the capital is selected and the breakdown of itsw culture points is on the right.

Inprovments that contribute to culture are
            palace
            temple (has a better ratio)
            library
            and colloseum.
            Plus world wonders.

World wonders seem to contribute differently to culture.
Hanging Gardens have given only the same culture points as the colloseum which has been built later on???
            That is a bit awkward.

Population size has an influence as well, which means that even if you are a warmonger you get some free culture.

It looks promising, we just have to see how it plays eventually.

Hmm. Wonder what the progress bars under each city mean. Probably construction status?

It seems to me that different world wonder have different contribution to culture.

But a bit more upsetting is that colloseum's culture ius worth more than from hanging gardens.

The most likeley reason is game balancing and to prevent the situation where someone gets a good start he would just have all the advantage with a lot of wonders. Everyone would 'flock' to him.

Most likely, improvements are yellow as well.

It doesn't really make sense to have progress bars for construction in the cultural advisor screen.

the slider might show when will the city increase it's sphere of influence again at the current rate of culture gain in the city.

I don't think the influence column is related to pop size, look at Bangalore and Nagasaki, Bangalor has a smaller pop yet higher influence. I originally thought influence meant border size, although a border size of 2 spaces out seems a bit large for a city with such a small culture as Karachi. I'm not sure what it means.

Perhaps the influence is cultural influence from trade/surrounding cities, or maybe it's the 'strength' of the culture, for determining borders with other countries.

                            Pure speculation, though.

I agree with onefootin the grave and osweld:

The "influence" is the # of spaces that your city influences from the city center.

The status bar under the city names represents how long untill influence increases. Remember, culture is generated "per turn" (at least i think i heard that somewhere...)

Pure speculation, as well, but it makes sense.
