    Multiplayer Game Hosting

For the multiplayer game hosting on Firaxis' site, perhaps they should have several 'doors' for players:
    1. The Chieftan Level is for beginners
    2. The Warlord Level is for mediums
    3. The Prince Level
    4. The King
    5. The Emperor
    6. The Deity Level is only accessable by invite.

On each level when you win you accumulate points based on how badly you "whupped the Babylonians @sh"
With those points averaged with your score:
    1-1-1
    Wins-Losses-Disconnects

You can have a rating like so: 1-3-4 75% (The 75% is the average you beat your opponent by)

    Then Firaxis can assign ratings:
If someone has a win-percentage under 20% his rating is "Chieftan"
of 20% then his rank is "Warlord"
of 40% then his rank is "Prince"
of 60% then his rank is "King"
of 80% then his rank is "Emperor"
of 100% then his rank is "Deity"

of 70% and up and plays on Emperor Level with at least a 30% average on beating people; the player is 'invited' to the Deity level where all the high-rollers play.

    ----
Another option is to have five gaming type rooms:
    1. Merchant (Wins by trade and nothing else)
    2. Warlord (Wins by total eradication)
    3. Diplomat (Wins by diplomacy [any option])
    4. Spaceman (Wins by going to space)
    5. Random

You're right UberKruX, Firaxis has not mentioned that they would have a dedicated site for CIV3 Multiplay....

However, DarkCloud has made a very valid and wonderful (IMHO) suggestion concerning the setup of a mutiplay site for CIV3 (where ever such a site could exist)!

UberKruX, Mark or Dan, - Could Apolyton host such a gaming site?

Dream Scenario - Firaxis provides us with a free matchmaking service like Blizzards Battle.net which creates a strong online community.

Worst Scenario - They give us the game and tell us that if we want to multiplay we can damn well fix it ourselves!
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

perhaps the microsoft gaming zone could help us out...

          www.zone.com/civ2multiplayer

im sure between PHP and VB ( of which i know both ) one could make a matchmaking service.

anyone care to take ont his project? of course, after we have recieved word of FIRAXIS's lack of such a service?

and if u really dont want me making an executable on your computer (you paranoid freak, i would never hurt a civer) Apolyton could sponsor an irc chan on dal net. they dont even have to do anything but advertise it.
