  • Demo and hotseat play.

I was wondering if any of the developers or board regulars know if a demo will be avaliable before the game is released. Also, I noticed that the new site doesn't mention hotseat play any more. Is it being cut like it was in call to power?

      Hotseat should stay because:

      1) They have no reason to delete it.
      2) It wouldn't be civ without hotseat.
      3) They would be following the misktakes of Activision.

firaxis has always released demos for their games, and it seems that infogrames is doing the same(check their site)

hotseat and pbem have been mentioned several times in press releases, etc

Yes but the more pressing issue is that of a demos being or not being, if im not mistaken they did release a demo of SMAC before the game was released and thus it should'nt be all that unlikely thet they do the same with Civ 3. Or am I a little to optimistic?
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

AGREED! I would like hotseat if for no other reason than my wife and I both love the game; it is one of the few things we can sit down together, quietly relax, have fun, and enjoy each others company engaged in the same activity.

i happen to despise hotseat, due to AI stupidity in diplomatic actions.

but if Firaxis makes an AI act like i tell it to act, maybe i'll have a go.

Hotseat may well be the only form of multiplayer I will ever play.

Neither civ I or II shipped with hotseat or any mp in general. So how would it not be civ without it?

As for the AI giving stupid diplomacy decisions in hotseat, they do the same in PBEM. I sure hope that the designers took out AI actions in diplomacy between two human players. Instead we should send deals and on that players next turn he agrees to it.
