  • No Wonder movies in Civ3!! A travesty!

    Borrowed from http://www.civ3.com/faq2.cfm

"Will there be Wonder movies in Civ III?
We have created a beautiful and fun world in Civ III and felt that the wonder movies of the past would take you out of that world and interrupt the gameplay experience. So, we decided to create some very cool wonder animations that appear within the game, on your city view screen, without disrupting the flow of your game. "

Perhaps I am in a minority here, but i loved the Wonder movies in Civ II (and to a lesser degree the CTP series). I found they gave the Wonders a true sense of accomplishment and added some great atmosphere to the game. Perhaps it is too late for them to change their current path, but I sincerely hope they reconsider this decision.

*sigh* Or maybe we could save them some time and send them some home-made Wonder movies!

Man, i really AM a minority here! I figured everyone enjoyed such classics as The Great Library movie or the King Richard's Crusade movie.

Well I think it sucks. I enjoyed the wonder movies, although I usually turned them off after awhile. The decision was probably made to save money - which I can understand.

It's too bad they're on the city view screen. I'd like to see them on the main map. The Lighthouse hovering over a coastal city, the Hoover Dam, etc.

                    *cries*
I'm not really sure anymore I will buy the game. I will download demos etc, but it's not a definiate-buy anymore.

because there is no wonder moves, you are not going to buy the game? thats stupid. After the first 3 or 4 times watching them I turn them off, they get pretty boring after a while

the civ2 movies were simply great, but it's not something to base your decision to buy or not buy

wait to see these "animations" first....

Yeah, I liked the movies as much as the next guy, but after seeing them all for the first fifteen to twenty times, I too turned them off...

Heh, I didn't watch them everytime like some freak, it's just that when you had put so much effort in completing a wonder, it really was a great award. I really hope these "animations" will be something extra, else with no cinematics, it will give the feeling of a ripped game.

OK. I do see what you mean about the ripped game feel... I have a feeling (this may be the Fan-Boy in me talking, for I have no proof) that the animations will be awe inspiring.
