Firaxis has never stated a release date, as far as I know.

It was Infogrames who mentioned it. They are the publisher and they want to create a market allready...

It is my understanding that the development of Gettyburg! and SMAC were spaced far apart enough that they weren't fighting for programmers and such.
I'm sure everyone of us is happy that you know all this intern information about the fighting for programmers and so !
It's really cool that you know all this !

I'm sure you've hidden a microphone inside their building somewhere, don't you ? I mean, all the info you have is really amazing !

...and speaking of SimGolf.... I was just over at their website looking over the previews and such.

I wonder though, are golfers also PC game players? Who is gonna buy this? Do the civvers here spend a lot of time on the Golf course too?

I said those things because if you read the back of the Gettyburg! manual, you can see that they looked at it as their baby, their first title. They poured their hearts into it. I got no hint that SMAC was going on around that time, but if somebody can correct me, that would be great. What I am saying, is they should try to keep that 'pour your heart as a unified team into a focussed goal' approach. Perhaps they still have it to some degree, but no doubt they are 'going corporate' to some degree, which could cut both ways.

An ad for SMAC was included on the Gettysburg! disc claiming that coming summer (I think Gettysburg was released around Christmas). Any way, to be advertising a game less than a year a way they had to be heavily into developement. Just because the game ended up being postponned almost a year, does not meant they at least weren't heavily working on it.

I play golf and I probably won't be buying Sid's version of it. It's much more fun to play on a real course, no matter how good the game is. The only time I can see myself playing golf on my computer is during the winter when all the courses are closed.

The people that are going to buy this are those that like simulation games, whether that be The Sims or RollerCoaster Tycoon. Games like this always do well and the fact that the game is coming from Maxis and is going to allow you to have your Sims play on the course should make the game a great big seller.
