Alright pick your favorite piece of fluff. This is little stuff for Civ3 that has absolutely no impact on the game itself, does nothing to help or detract from gameplay, just stuff that creates a fun environment to play in.
The palace is my favourite because it was interactive and customisable, unlike the Throne room which always ended the same if you took all the upgrades.
For me, other. All the original music of Civ, enhanced a bit but not too hacked up like the civ2 versions. I would love to hear those songs again, it would be a massive nostalgia trip

I want Elvis back, plus the other advisors! They made the game more fun!
But the messages they give must vary more.

Yeah, especially the one that played when you discovered a new tech " Dudu-dududu-duuuuuu".....or something like that
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars
i don't know if u would consider them fluff, but a nations GNP wasn't really VITAL to the game, but it helped a bit.
and if ure not considering that fluff, then the ADVISORS always gave me a lot of laughs, without providing any inciteful information.
BUILD MORE UNITS. (my 10 stacks of 1 legion and 2 catapults in caravels isnt enough)
EXPLORE. (i already have 20 cities and met all the other civs)
BUILD SCIENTIFIC SHEEIT. (3 turns is too slow, i know)
THE PEOPLE ARE UNHAPPY. (screw them. WORK DAMMIT)
and now, for the NEW stuff...
MAKE MORE CULTURE.
grand.

A "newspaper" would pop up on the screen, with the main headline being some important announcement ("Queen Elizabeth will be retiring in 20 years" is the one I remember best).
This is OT but it feelt a little unnecessary making a new thread just for this, as for as I know there are 2 versions of Civ 1, the crude looking PC version and the nice looking Mac version, why is there such a big difference, and is CivNet like the Mac version but for the PC, and in that case, where could I get it?

Well, the one I remember the most was the news: "CityName build CityImprovement"
I voted for other. The reason for that is because the demographics are my favorite fluff. They may not have been very good in Civ2 but if they were expanded upon they could become very interestng. Either way though, demographics is my favorite fluff.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.
