  • Let's Help Firaxis Chose New Ad Art!

O.K. We've all seen this by now:

But what does this really say about Civ? Fire + Rock = ??? "Hot Rock"? I was thinking of re-doing the kitchen counters with that pattern, though. Anyway, I suppose they are going for the Death/Destruction Etched In The Stony Annals of History? If so, I have an image they might like better:

Now this, to me, seems to capture Civ 3 perfectly. It's not hot rock, I'll grant you that. But it's a rock with a message.

Or, if you prefer something more abstract, look at this:

I tried a search with the title "Pictures of Rock," and I got this little guy, whose name is: Rock. Somehow I imagine the same look on Markos' face every time I post something like this, don't you?

Anybody out there have some images that might look better as the official Ads/Civ3 box cover? Blank posts are acceptable.

Wow. What does that mean? I think Markos changed my Avatar, but I can't change my profile to see them. Anyway, is this Rock really a good Avatar? I think the "other" Rock would be better, don't you?

Yeah, baby! Can you smell what The Yin is cookin'?

O.K. I swear I've found their inspiration for the rock art on the box. I was surfing for a picture of Formica for another thread when I came across the EXACT pic used for the box art and ad. Take a look:

It's from the Swiff-Train's Company's ColorVisionR Rocks Collection. OCRE 13x13 shown above.

            THAT'S the Civ3 box, I'm telling you!

Even if i did design a Civ 3 box cover, Firaxis wouldn't really care.

As for the ad, something related to sex usually works
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

Yes, everyobdy would buy it, but then they'd need to include a porn movie in the box, or pictures in the manual.

                        On the front:

Civ III: More fun than sex, but we've included a video of really great sex too just so socially challenged individuals can compare the two

                        On the back:

Include a screenshot of your palace and its grounds, with foreign ambassadors being entertained in your sculpted gardens. Yin posted exactly the right picture but Mark moved it to another forum for some reason
