ALL Wonders should have tourism benefits, although they should not kick in until near the modern era.
I diffently disagree with this. UN, Magellan, etc... shouldn't increase tourism. The only one that should increase tourism is the Eifel Tower because you can't have all wonders increasing tourism. It should give you maybe a 25% increase on trade in the city that you built it in. As well, as giving you the meaning less effect it gave you in Civ2.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

IMO all Wonders are pretty stupid anyway. That doesn't mean they all have to be totally ridiculous.

Hey Tech Wins, how about permanent structures (except engineering, production structures), would add to tourism. Example of permanent structures being tourist trap: pyramids, stonehedge, cistine chapel, eiffel tower, etc. Can't really see the Hoover dam being such a draw (unless you are in the area).

But then again maybe the culture sticking to wonders even after they expire is adequate.

Incorrect. The only reason France kept it after the World Fair for which it was built was its potential as a radio relay station. It still serves that purpose today.
