This is of paramount importance to me - will it be possible to play Civ 3 with 800x600 resolution? If not, I am not buying it. Firaxis, if you read this, then please take in account. I have a 6 years old small monitor (yes!), which I just love too much, and it only can show 800x600, not higher. Plus, if I view 1024x760 on anything less than 17" monitor, my eyes hurt. If they haven't included 800x600, please do! This will surely add some thousand copies sold to your stockpile, and buying a new monitor is not a priority for me now, and I'm not going to do that because of Civ 3 (probably).

Get a new monitor, they are cheap, even big ones.
One I find is that if it isn't text and things and you are looking at pictures, you can cope with a higher resolution. If you can fiddle with the text size, you may not have a problem...Speaking of Erith:

It's all right, but I have nostalgic reasons for keeping this monitor. It's very good, and I was offered some good money for it - they said noone would now pay you more than 70$ for monitor that's so small and with these resoultions, but I was offered 150$ (a year ago). I refused, even though for some 170$ I could probably get a new one. Damnit, there are lots of people with 800x600, and what's the official response to this?Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

What size is the monitor *** TV screen??
I find 1024 x 768 plenty. Considering it's for my old P166 if I tried to run anything over that on it it'd probably die. It's been threatening to die for months now. I'll try to turn it on some day and bamm I'm back to only having a laptop. No Flight sims for meDestruction is a lot easier than construction. Hmm...you can get a new 17" monitor around here for about $130. It's the best investment you can make, especially if you have an old monitor. My old 14" monitor was so bad that the screen was fuzzy and I didn't even realize it until I got my 17" monitor. I probably ruined my eyes looking at that thing.
It's one of the most noticable and best changes you can make.----

That's good. I just remember playing C&C:tiberian sun and wondering why all the units looked so crappy. I tried it again and I was able to experience why they looked okay, but the game sucked----

800x600! The **** Tracy watch can display more than that
If anything's cheap right now it's monitors, printers, RAM and CD-Rs (all of which I have purchased in the last 6 months).
