Wow I'm surprised they didn't have a picture of Sid potting a hole in one with his golfing cap on as the backround.
Talking of pot how are you feeling Yin?

IT'S A BOX! The primary function of the box is to hold the stuff in place until I open it at home. It could be aluminium foil and duct tape with "Civ3" written in permanent marker for all I care, as long as it holds the stuff together.

When I buy a game, I take everything out of the box and install. The box then disappears in the mess I call a dwelling.

Not me My box is always somewhere near my PC... besides, when I look at the game in a few years I want to appreciate the box (yeah, I keep all my boxes--if I become rich, I'll collect computer games )...

Look what the lack of information to talk about has lead us to, argueing about a damn box! Everybody may have their special little stories about boxes but overall nobody cares about the box. If anyone can tell me that they look at the box everyday then we should be granted a great box. If not then it doesn't matter.
However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

Granted if the back of the box or an inner sleeve has really good screen shots that outline the complexity of the game, then it won't matter so much. Let me re-phrase: Long-time fans of the game would buy it wrapped in tin-foil, as nicely put. But first-time players (and we must speculate there will be a significant number) WILL judge the game at least in part by the cover...and this cover says A) Nothing B) Warmonger.

While the previous box covers won't make it into the Smithsonian or anything, you at least got a sense of what the game is about. Anyway, yes, I'd much rather discuss more important details about the game. Except, of course, we ain't got none.

They used an inner sleeve for the Alpha Centauri box so its a pretty good chance that they'll do it with civ 3 to.
It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - Drosedars

Goshh! Do you mean it was supposed I open the box? Is there really anything inside it? As with Chocolate Easter Eggs?

Good grief, I must have miss half the funny until now! Now wait until I unwrap all that plastic I supposed was for painting protection... Civ II box, SMAC box... all that babbling on the forum gain new meanings to me!

No way, my wife will misunderstand the whole package and fit it into the fridge, as sliced meat or anything like that

Oh, and you forget the "Sid Meier's" part of the permanent marker "Civ3" label. Bad boy, no game demo for you

The box looks just like all of there promotional stuff at e3 looked like. It has that same old paper look to it.

I don't really care about the box, but then again I just want what is inside of it.

Actually If they could put in some microwave 3 in 1 meals supply for the next fortnight we'd really enjoy the game a lot more.

And no manual on cd I think these new plastic boxes that dont give you the manual are wrip - offs. You'd do as well to get a copy.
