I think you win the prize for the most imaginitive spelling of Firaxis
There have been many discussions, apparently they did let it slip somewhere that there were 16, and could play simultaneously. But don't take my word for it though...Speaking of Erith:

Well, actually Firaxis didn't let anything slip out. The 16 untis being able to be played simultaneously came from an unreliable preview. We all know how inaccurate previews can be. So to answer your question, no it hasn't been confirmed. Your best bet is to not set yourself up for getting let down. However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

according to civfanatics.com, max players allowed at the same time will be seven, as usual. this is not confirmed, but there´s some reson to believ it.
- doesn´t the "advisor screen"-screenshot show seven leaders?
- it would be typically "Sid-ish".
- think it would be quite messy with borders etc.Last edited by Juggernaut; July 4, 2001, 04:37.

"Civilizations
Each civilization will have certain permanent benefits that set them apart from their rivals.
Civ3 will have 16 Civilizations (compared to Civ2's 21).
The list of civilizations that most likely will be in Civ3:
Americans (Special Unit: F15 Fighter)
Chinese (Special Unit: ?)
Egyptians (Special Unit: ?)
English (Special Unit: Man-o-War Frigate)
French (Special Unit: Musketeer)
Germans (Special Unit: Panzer Tank)
Indians (Special Unit: ?)
Iroquois (Special Unit: ?)
Japanese (Special Unit: Samurai)
Romans (Special Unit: Legion)
Russians (Special Unit: MiG Fighter)
Zulus (Special Unit: Impis)
Greek (Special Unit: Hoplite)
Mongols (Special Unit: ?)
Aztecs (Special Unit: ?)
Persians (Special Unit: ?)
Civ3 will include a "very robust" civilization editor. You will be able to create new civilizations and share them with other players.
The maximum number of civs in a game is still 7."

Don't keep quoting civfanatics. They have the same sources we do, and the conclusion they've drawn is unsupported. Use only primary sources such as interviews, official Firaxis news and previews.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET
