    Hi, I'm new here, so sorry if this already is discussed

    Will there be infinite cities allowed (without making the people unhappy) or will it be like CTP where 1 gov only could handle X number og cities and another gov only could handle Z number of cities?
    This space is empty... or is it?

    I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think the number of cities will be linked to happiness. If I were Firaxis, I would definately try to distance myself from Craptivision

      I'm not all sure here: Craptivision is that the nickname for them who made CTP, if that's so I agree, they shouldn't come to close to them, it's only one thing by CTP I want them to keep (And here I ofcause talk about the new things CTP has and prev Civ games have not) It's the way to transport units

        Craptivision () is a name that many people have come to call Activision because of their buggy and unsupported Call to Power games. There are also many other variations of the name. Perhaps someone could recall a few of these for me.......... ?

        What do mean by "way to transport units"? Do you mean the new method of movement? or do you mean naval transports, etc?

          With that I mean the way you click (and hold the mouse button) on the unit and choose where the unit go (then release the mouse button). I think I've read someplace where they say it is done that way in Civ 3 also

          Thought so about the craptivision , just haven't heard it before

            Personally, I liked the CTP1 system the best out of them all (Right-click), but I'll get used to whatever system they implement.

                In Civ 1 and 2, each city had to build the happiness improvements only. Maybe some of the happiness Wonders. Some of the guy said there was a limit on the number of cities that could be built. Two hundred fifty. The type of Government did not matter.
                In CTP 1 and 2, The Gov. does matter (it puts a limit on number of cities you can build before unhappiness start). You must build all City Improvement (happiness) and some Wonder Improvement. In this game you need all three to keep a city happy.

                  I'm not sure, but as they have made so big efforts to create culture. I hope they use it to regulate the unhappiness (the more culture one city has the bigger it can be without unhappiness).

                      Well, there is a way to move units like this already in Civ 2: if you have the unit selected, just click and hold the mouse button on top of the square you want the unit to go to, and it will take the unit to that square. In Civ 2 it can't handle long distances correctly, however. In Alpha Centauri, the feature is much better: it shows you the route the unit is going to take and can calculate the shortest route correctly no matter how far you want the unit to go. Considering that, I am certain that Firaxis will implement it in Civ 3 at least as well as it was in Alpha Centauri; in addition, I too remember reading somewhere about moving units that way in Civ 3.

                      (And I think just clicking and holding the button on the destination is better than the CTP way you described of having to click and hold on the unit, then drag the cursor,, since it is hard to keep the mouse button pressed and drag long distances if the map has to be scrolled etc. Of course an option in right-click-menu called "Move selected unit here" could also be included, if right-click menus are in the game, as is customary - I think the right-click should be reserved for a menu, not a special function, since one of the things that made me stop trying to learn CTP2 was its complicated interface which had to be learned from the ground up.)

                        There is a 256 cap on the cities in Civ II. Along with the 32,767 limit on gold and 256 limit on future technologies. Anyone familiar with computers should recognize the pattern. If this is still present in Civ III then someone should be taken out back and...

                        Someone, and his name escapes me right now but I'll look him up if anyone wants, created his own civ2.exe file without these limitations. You can download it from his website. It's a much better game when you don't loose your excess gold and don't ever see that "number of cities exceeded" window.

                        But the problem with infinite cities is that in order to get a really high score, you need to build up your population. Or in other words, if you build up your population, your score will skyrocket. No other means of getting points is as important as population. So with infinite cities, you can cover the entire map with cities located only 1 hex away from each other getting tons of gold and research but creating a very dull and thoughtless game. I hope Civ III allows more than 256 cities but not an infinite amount, or places some other restriction on the cities.

                          Personally I don't care about high scores...Maybe infinite is too much But maybe the max number of cities could be set out of the number og land tiles, I just don't want to see the thing from CTP when you even can't build cities all over the world without the people getting unhappy
