There appears to be two main types of Civ players, those who play Civ as a wargame and those who play it more as historical simulation. I'm curious as to which style of play gamers prefer here in this forum.

Insufficient choices. I usually play as a pacificistic expansionist.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

A builder. Like to rake in science and dosh and expand and build big, beautiful cities. And a war on the side if it is 'good for business', when there is something that another civ has I particularly want!Speaking of Erith:

WAR FAWKING MONGER ALL THE WAY.
loving this poll.
could use a few more options, for example:

LOL...even more like who I am.
I tend to play on fundamentalism. I make tons of allies at great financial expense $$$, and never start a war (which I consider to last even through superficial peace treaties) with very few exceptions. But when somebody declares war on me or especially if the betray me, I get really annoyed and wipe them off the map completely.
The few exceptions are basically if it's really necessary for expansion (stuck on an island, surrounded by a bigger island with "issues" about zone of control), they attack an ally (generally I don't pursue the war unless I'm attacked, in which case I go into genocide mode like above), or if they build a wonder that is necessary to my survival. Or if my spaceship gets destroyed by a capital killer I take out my rage on the "Poor, lost souls in space" on the rest of terrestrial Earth.
I almost never allocate luxuries (yes, I've played on deity and won and yes, I used luxuries with great annoyance).Your.Master

I concur, far too few choices. I am a defensive isolationist builder. I build a few cities in prime locations, then strengthen their infrastucture and standing garrison. I use choke points and terrain to isolate myself. I am very protective of my territory, and quick to go to war with anyone who enchroaches on it... but otherwise I stay out of conflict and try to stay neutral. Also I do not attempt to "simulate history", but to write it anew. I like "what if" questions.
