  • Stacking? Leaders? Battles?

Hey, somewhere I read, that you will not be able to stack units until you have a very seldom leader/hero?

I want a leader early on, gather 2 phalanx, 2 archer, 1 legion and 1 cavalry - and then pound heavily on Carthage!!!

In the early game, do I have to send the troops one by one??

Before Nationalism you can have one "army" (stack) per 4 cities and one army per leader.

      This sounds reasonable.
How do I get a leader?

I'm not entirely sure but it has to do whit a unit winning many battles, a very experienced unit may become a leader (unless I missed something), the leaders can be used for other stuff as well.

Wow, this sounds even better. Thanks.

I love the idea having a leader who increases the building speed of a terrain improvement. Or who enters Naples to quell unrest there.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see out it finally works in a game situation. It sounds pretty good though. However it is complicated, so it could end up being a stuff-up. I hope note.

i BELIEVE (and i have been known to be wrong) that a Leader is like a "double veteran". Whereas if a unit survives enough battles, it is given leadership status.

imagine i have a warrior leader in 2000 AD

I think (and hope) that there will be several "levels" of experience for the units just as in SMAC, perhaps when the highest level of experience has been reached the unit may become a leader...

In the same place that they talked about this, I think it was mentioned that armies cannot be assembled before you have a war academy.

Leaders and stacks are a good start. But what about modern weapons.
What about strategies and tactics of modern weapons. Stacks and leaders
work for a army of tanks, but what about stealth bombers and a phalanx of
missiles. The AI needs to understand about some of the modern strategies
and tactics for sophisticated weapons. Also, I'm not interested in combat
screens. I don't think CivIII needs to go in that direction.
