Looking at that E3-video once again (with left-speaker balanced out this time = no annoying czech translation), I managed to extract the following new update about great leaders, near the end of the video - between 9:55 - 10:30 minutes.
If a combat-unit survives a battle, theres a chance that his hit-point meter goes up. [...]
And if you/he continues to survive battles, then theres a possibility that he can become a great leader, that can lead armies in battles. (not 100% exact translation - the sound-uptake was weak).
Im not sure if it must be one and the same unit that survives - I didnt quite get that. Also, im not sure if one must have access to great leaders, in order to forge armies at all? Or does great leaders only functions as enhancements to an self-standing existing army?
Anyway: Great leaders isnt something that just pops up by chance - Instead you must prove yourself on the battlefield, in order to get them.
