has anyone else noticed how the AI in Civ 2 MGE kind of, HATES human players?

after a few turns of meeting them, they always end up "uncooperative", and soon after all these "anti-human" alliances spring up.

before MGE, the Civ2 ai loved people! in fact, i still play normal civ2 single player.

the ww2 scenario is a bit harder if everyone hates you, even as the allies or Turks

For me it seems I was predestined to always fight the Russians and ally with the English.

I would prefer an AI-civ that tries to exploit me for most of the time, and spare the hatred until i I actually conquer hes cities or pillage hes improvements.

Also, if the human player races ahead too much, the remaing AI-civs should tone down internal quarrels, and instead trying to re-balance the power. You can counteract this somewhat by establish good ally-relations in advance. But, you must be prepared to sweeten the deal with that ally, so he remains loyal.

Yes the AI should try and prevent one civilization from being the lone power. The rest of the less powerfull nations will be able to agree not to trade the goods the powerfull civilization need to create his massive armies. Also, can you agree not to trade only one good to a civilization are do you have to totally block them.

i understand that, but im talking about REAL early on, like 2000 BC.

surely im not good enough to be feared by all AIs every single time...

          oh wait, i am.

civ 2 multiplayer ai diplomacy is screwd up. It is way too agressive and its so irritating it isn't even worth playing in single player.

Civ 2 classic has no such problems.

There was a discussion in one of the civ 2 forums about wether this ai diplomacy aggression in civ 2 multiplayer is a bug or not.

Some say it was intenional by the creatots to make civ 2 multiplayer harder.
            Others think it's a bug.

Whatever the reason, civ 2 classic is the one to play in single games. Also senarios get destroyed by ai agressiveness in civ 2 multiplayer.
