  • SimGolf *shudder*

Why is it that the graphic of simgolf are better than those of civ3. If you compare the city view to the graphics simgolf, the golf one is soooo much better. Why is that? Doesn't Firaxis have its *best* techies working on civ3, yet they can't come up with better city graphics? Im getting worried here. Who exactly is doing what. Is Sid really playing civ3, or is he designing simgolf? Or doing both?

Aren't you aware of the conspiracy?

    If not, here's the scoop:

All Civers are going to be rounded up into concentration camps by the future players of Sim Golf. The justification is that Civers are inherently inferior due to our excessive addiction to a specific PC game. Sid Meiers is all for this round up and extermination, so he can continue with his destardly Sim Golf experiment.

The Associated Press is expected to discuss some suspicions about this, and are bribed to assure all Civers that no plan of extermination is made. This is to lull us into complacency until Sid Meier's Sim Golf SS officers storm our homes.

Anyway, sleep tight tonight. If someone breaks into your home and wakes you up with a powerful flashlight and a loaded pistol, just convince yourself that it's a nightmare.

Mr Fun, I wish I could take what you were saying for a joke...unfortunately, and everybody should be aware of this, he's not lying!!

I think all Civ addicts should escape to an unoccupied island and start our own nation called Apolyton, where we will be free from the scurge of a society that would have us killed!

This is true. Last night I saw a small rally of SimGolfers in my hometown. They were all dressed in ugly golf shoes, multicolored checkered pants, cardigan sweaters and hats. They had a computer with the Firaxis Civ3 site up and started pounding it with their golf clubs.

I don't think that Firaxis had anything to do with SimGolf except for Sid Meier. The news reports were that Sid was seen going to Maxis' hq. To me that says that Maxis was making the game with Sid direction/consulting. Firaxis guys most likely didn't do much besides play-test the game. I don't see a problem with that. So Sid wants his name on more game-boxes, power to him.

the simgolfers have struck! my family only survived their horrible attacks by burning all of our civ discs in preparation after hearing about them in this very thread! IT had saved my life! Thank you mr Fun, you have saved my life! but many others were not so lucky! i tried to warn them, but it was too late. My friend adaMada42 was taken and stripped before being beaten to death by golf clubs before my very eyes! but there was nothing i could do! Oh please be warned!

ps. do u know if we could like, rent out alcatraz?
              that island idea sounds cool...

Sure -- in fact, I think Sean Connery might still be stuck there from his movie role in "The Rock" a few years ago.

                  E3 award

SimGolf has just won an E3 award so it might be worth checking out. Don't knock it until you've tried it!

I distinctly remember playing against the Arabs in Civ2....

Can someone clear this up please? I don't have a
                    copy of Civ2 any longer.

I like your idea Zanzin! We could start our own nation and elect leaders from within! About SimGolf, I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't ever into golf very much. And I would be very dissapointed if I were to hear that Sid was spending all of his time designing it and not owrking on Civ3.

Well all I know is that in the first awards from E3 that I have seen, Sim Golf is the best sports game. Civ III is not the best strategy game (whether I agree with this or not) and despite the fact that Civ III was named best of show the game mechanics just didn't get the reviewers jumping for joy.

And yet these are the same magazines that gave SMAC such high marks so I am worried. Not because Firaxis is going to produce two high qualities games, but instead of why is Civ III not getting better awards. Is there something wrong? Or is it just early in develepement and therefor not able to generate the E3 awards?
