Set an active player. This is who you'll make a city for.
Next, go to set brush type (map menu, I think), then pick city Or unit. but you can't pick it without an active player, one menu along from 'map' (afaik).

Bit vague, but should give you an idea I'm not a modder or map-maker myself, but I knew about that little gem
It's all my territory really, they just squat on it...!

To add cities and units to a map you need to use the custom data option.

        Hi GORII,

Now don't get me wrong, I am no kind of rule enforcer, really, , however the Creation Forum is near bone dry with a foot or two in the graveyard. And I humbly note this thread belongs there. And I am sure one us 'undead' who regularly haunt these boards will be glad to talk you through the process in detail.

Especially since modding can actually be a lot of fun.

Theres people who actually check the creation forum then?

Anyhow as has been said, set the active player in the options box and then place your cities

Your right of course spy14, and for the record I did not say 'people' check the Creation Board, I refer to 'undead' haunting the board.

              Happy Modding!

Oh, and GORII there is more than one way to place units down, especially if want them somewhere besides the player's starting position. Actually Cerbykins mentioned it somewhat confusedly...

It's been a long time since I played map-maker for Civ.
Civ 1 actually, with a 3rd-party tool and on the old ST too
Perhaps one day I should hunt down the save, call it into the editor again, and convert it line-by-line into Civ 3. After all, it'd be such a waste to have despoiled those atlas pages for nothing...

Presumably an ST as in Atari.

But it was the Amiga that ruled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ya that's right brag it up, my first computer was an Amiga. Now where did they go? Kind of reminds me of the story of the 'Do Do' bird...

Don't make me send 'Warmonger Gandhi' after all you wretched Amiga survivors
Anyway, you can blame ST Format Issue 50 for my entry into the Civ world

Would that be the issue with the demo, or the issue which told there were a campaign to port the game to ST?

The latter also breifly described the civ-concept. I knew immediately that this was the game I had been waiting for
