Can't upgrade Daimyo after combat?

In the Shogun conquest in C3C, after the Daimyo has seen any sort of combat, it can't be upgraded. Is that supposed to be normal, or is that a bug?

Neither, AFAIK. Make sure you have enough gold and that he is sitting in a barracks. The gold could be in the hundreds.

It's normal, IIRC. Upgrading takes an entire turn.

Thanks Kucinich, your tip worked.. I forgot that upgrading takes an entire turn and tried to upgrade my Daimyo in the turn that it moved into the city with the barracks. Oops.
