  • Tech progress is too fast

When the AI is doing reasonably well, the tech progress is usually very fast, Industrial age in 1300, Modern by 1700.

Is there anyway to mod the game to make the tech progress for realistic?

Oh ya! There are several ways.
When first generating a game, big, huge, standard etc. set the tech clock up. I believe it shows up in lower left corner of the dialog screen. This is a global setting.

Better, fine tuning in Editor, doing one or more of the following:

Scroll through each tech and raise the base turns.
Click 'no trade' on many of them.
Eliminate the 'goody boxes' if starting in the Ancient Age.
Set in the Scenario Screens, the mininum turns for researching a tech to a higher setting, such as 6.

    Hope this helps,
    Happy gaming!

Use fewer civs than normal and have no barbs (no goody huts for tech).

            Don't do any research.

Play against only 1 or 2 other civs and don't trade techs with them.

Go to World Sizes in the editor and increase the Tech Rate. That would be easier than individually increasing the cost of each tech.

Also you can decrease the AI tech trading rate.

Change the time scale so you get more years per turn.

Looks like there are many ways to accomplish it. Some that does not even require the editor.

Kill all the AI except for a zoo city then turn research down to 0% with 1 scientist.

That is called a Domination victory.

You can hold off on one if you try.

The helpful spirit on these boards is almost contagious, fortunately I had my shots way back in the Army.
