  • Most annoying AI request

The AI frequently wants to trade a world map for my WM and my most advanced tech.

Oh, yeah, sure, right...and after I agree to this, I'll go play in traffic.

I have always been annoyed at the trades, because you have to give your false teeth for a resource trade that should be 1:1. If I want Dye for a Fur, then that should be fine. I wish I could tell the AI "Go and shove it. I'm not paying 500 gold in addition to this trade. I don't really need it, but YOUR cities are in civil disorder. Come back when the rioters are pounding on your palace gates, then perhaps you'll be more reasonable."
One OS to rule them all,
    One OS to find them,
One OS to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

On this note, can you direct to info or discussion on 'editing' the dialog routines?

In my current game, I attacked the stupid Americans around 500 AD with my Immortals, and sacked 2/6 of their cities. They wanted to sue for peace, so I demanded all the rest of their cities for peace. They actually gave them to me!

I guess they really wanted peace.

one thing to keep in mind, each additional lux is worth more than the previous, due to markets. The AI knows this, so if you are trying to get your 5th lux, it will cost you more than the 2nd. That said, the AI can be quite a bastard and not think of his own people

The AI in my current game will not give me anything to join it against the #1 Celts. The Arabs have 5 techs that I do no have, that I know of. The Arabs are down to 2 cities and the Celts will drop them in nothing flat, but no way will the Arabs give me anything at all for an alliance.

They won't even trade me Econ (wonder build already) for 2 luxs and cash. It is too stupid to see it has nothing to lose. The Koreans were the ame an went down to the Celts. Taking all their techs with them.

Also if you are kicking the AI's ass they want more even allowing for this factor, since you benefit more.

Also what annoys me at times even though I'm expecting it is some of the prices demanded for techs on the highest levels. You want writing + 5000 gold for Masonry? Yeah, that's fair. Ok, so I exaggerated a little.

Why is it that some of the starting techs seem to be worth more than others?

The tech costs are different. Check the editor. Also the cost for buying will depend on how many civs have the tech in question.

Plus the AI seems to not like to let go of techs that either yield wonders or troops.
