  • Single City Cultural Victory Possible?

I am currently playing a game where I have a city dedicated to culture. On Emperor level I somehow managed the Colossus and Mausoleum, JSB's, Magellan's, Newton's (missed Shakespeare's to an AI prebuild!), TOE and Universal Suffrage as well as relatively early Temple/Library/Cathedral/Colloseum and Heroic Epic. Which IMHO isn't too bad for one city.

Many of these are now producing double culture, I am getting 64 culture/turn at about 320 turns into the game and am currently about 8,800 culture, so I would indeed make it to 20,000 in another 180 turns or so (maybe cut down a few turns if I get the UN/SETI/Internet etc)

But I can't see any way given the current pace of the tech race that I or the Incas won't get to a Space Race victory first.

And if the tech had been so slow that the Space Race techs wouldn't be accessible before he end of the game, then I wouldn't yet have the wonders to give me the culture to get to the SCCV!

Has anyone here ever won an (Epic Game) Single City Cultural Victory (without Space Race turned off?)

Nope, but remember the space parts now requires learning more or less all the tech in the game. So you may have more time than you planned.

Yes, monarch game on a tiny map, won by a pretty high margin (spaceship parts not yet available to anyone) It definitely helps to be on a tiny map. Good starting location a must also. The trick of course is to play with only one city.

each to his own perhaps, but if it so easy to beat the game at highest levels with one city , then time for a new game me thinks

Rasputin I just noticed the Spanish forum and I am surprised you have not mentioned it.

It has more post than all the forums for AC combined and not too far behind all of the CivII forums. That would seem to be incredible.
