CivIII:Gold + Conquests

If I have Civilization III: Gold, and I purchase the Conquests expansion pack, will I be able to use the expansion pack in conjunction with CivIIIGold?

Or will I need the original Civilization III to use the expansion? I need to know this information before I go out and buy it, so I don't end up wasting my money.

Also, how many new Civs does it have, in relation to the Gold Edition?

What are some of the other new features?

I'm not sure about C3G to C3C...it should work, but I don't know so don't take my word for it.

As for new civs, CSC come with 7 additional to the 24 in Civ3 and PTW (ie C3G), to total 31 (as civ has a maximum allowable 32 civs, and barbarians take up one slot).

It will work. Civ Gold has the orginal civ3 incorporated in it. That is all that is required by C3C. You will then have the ability to play CivIII or PTW or C3C. You will have an entry in the start up for each one.

Ok, cool! I will be buying that then. I need the new civs that come with it...I've wanted the Mayans forever.

AFAIK, C3G is just Civ3+PTW all in one box, not anything special. So you should be able to upgrade to Conquests

Out of interest's sake, can anyone tell me what versions of Civ3 and PtW are included in Gold? I assume v1.29 of vanilla Civ3 is there, but what about PtW - is the latest patch for that in there?
