  • Civ3 down to $7.99 on Amazon.com

I haven't bought or ordered Civ3 yet, and Amazon.com is making it even harder to say no. I was going to buy Civ3+C3C for roughly $40 total off of Amazon.com, but now Civ3+C3C combined is only $33 (Civ3 - $8, C3C - $25) -- a much better buy than Civ3 Gold alone ($36) or Civ3 GotY ($35).

I guess I should jump on the civ bandwagon and finally check out Civ3.

Its certainly worth $8. Given the growing list of bugs with C3C, I would hold off until the first patch. That'll give you time to test out civ3 to see if you like it. Be sure to install all the current patches for the vanilla game though.
We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

For a new player, I don't think the bugs are a show stopper.

Most of problems identified in C3C are specific situations which don't necessary occur in each game.

The game is awesome! It's worth a try at $7.99!!!

In the shops here, vanilla CIV is still €35

DO !! buy C3C at the same !! (upgrades and whatnot all at once)

Does C3C include everything PtW (civs, etc.) has?

C3C comes with everything in the original Civ3 and PTW releases - patches and all.

No, it only comes with everything in PtW; you have to install it on top of civ3.

I dont think C3C includes some of the extra unit flc.s that were on the PtW disc.

Ugh, I'm gonna give in and buy the damn thing now. Just on the off chance its not as terrible as everyone says.

                      For 8 bucks, why not.

I just picked up my copy at DirtCheapSoftware.com for $10.45. It is more than Amazon but they also have brand new copies of Call To Power II ($17.95) which I could not find on Amazon.com. Amazon has CTPII but you must buy it from the "market place sellers", not Amazon themselves. Anyway, I am now all set to try and compile to CTP2 source code and work on that project while taking frequent breaks to play Civ III.

I am very glad to have found the Apolyton web site.

Welcome to Apolyton! A word of warning: beware the OTF. It sucks you in. Trust me.

Always nice to have new people here. It seems the release of the ctp2 source code has been good for Poly.

Amazon acts as an agent for a variety of "market place sellers" (and for other large chains including those with their own websites) and guarantees that you'll get what you paid for when you buy through them.
