  • PTW v1.27f US MultiPlayer LAN w/computer problem

Hi, has anyone else had this problem. Try PTW v1.27f US MultiPlayer LAN, 2 players vs 1 computer, turn based. Game loads and starts on two pcs fine, but then, the units won't move. It says it's my turn, but no dice. Point and click and nothing. Tell settler to build a city and nothing. Same thing in simultaneous mode. Turnless won't allow a computer player.

If either of the human players leaves the game, then, the remaining player and computer will be able to play. But, that's not multiplayer, is it? This sucks! Anyone else?

Nor have I experienced such problems and I too play alot of LAN games with my partner. Lord Davinator has a point - try uninstalling the game from both computers and reinstall. In addition, what operating systems are you using?

Thanks for the replies. This only began with the 1.27 patch. I uninstalled/reinstalled on both machines, with same problem. I'm running Win2000 Pro.

This might sound like a stupid question, but are you both playing with the original U.S. version? Do you have two copies of the game or is one a burned copy of the other?

One original version, same house, same room, no burned copy. We only need it to start the game. This was never a problem before.

Ah, you are right - using 1 CD for two computers wasn't a problem in the past. I guess it is possible that they "fixed" this with the latest patch though ...

BRB - I'm going to test it out.

                Ok. I'm back.

Well, I tried it with only one CD and it seems to work fine. These are the steps I used:

                1. Host computer uses CD and sets up the MP LAN game.

                2. Once the host sets the game settings, take out the CD and place it in the other computer.

                3. Other computer starts PTW and joins the host's game.

                4. Once inside the setup screen the other computer chooses his civilization and clicks the "ready" button. Take out the CD and return it to the host.

                5. Host puts in the CD, choose the number of AI's to play with and "clicks the "ready" button.

                6. Host launches the game.

I played 6 turns without any mishap - of course, I had to run back and fourth between my rooms.

Oh, and both my computers use Windows XP Professional.
