  • Will PtW let me change what I dislike about basic Civ3?

    Hi Everyone,

I just got Civ3 1.29f three weeks ago. I'm playing my first game and have been really disappointed with how certain aspects of the game were implemented. I might buy PtW if I can change the things I dislike about Civ3. If not I will wait for C3C (or maybe just go back to SMAC)

What I want is for Courts and Police to change the floor rate of corruption to 66% and 33%. It makes sense to me that a frontier settlement with no local government would be practically useless, but it doesn't make sense for it to remain useless after law and order come to town (especially in the modern era).

I want to make the AI more proactive about cleaning up its pollution, or maybe just turn off the AI's ability to pollute. Nothing ticks me off more than being punished for something I didn't do. If the programmers couldn't figure out how to make the AI clean up after itself, they should have made them non polluting. Sorry, didn't mean to rant there....

On a brighter note, I'm glad I found this forum. I have gotten alot of ideas here. Keep up the good work!

    Funny observation

Have you ever noticed that all these games have corruption go down the closer you are to the capitol? Isn't this the exact opposite of what happens in the real world?

Small frontier town that have law (courts/police) can still have corrption in the form of bad judges and cops, it seems to me.
PTW patches made commercial trait reduce corruption by increasing the OCN value.

in the editor you could make pollution take only 1 turn to clean up. the ai DOES send workers to clean up pollution, it just only sends 1 or 2 so it takes many turns to clean up.

oh, and about corruption. it is a big shock to everyone when they first start playing, but you'll get over it. corruption in despotism is really bad, but with better govts, better city placement, FPs and that sort of stuff help. and once you connect the cities with roads/harbours/airports the corruption goes down even further. if you really hate corruption, make something like barracks or temples reduce corruption.
