  • How to turn German 1.27f into UK 1.27f

You may get an unofficial and unsupported 1.27 UK patch without the updated editor by doing as follows:

0 Make sure you have PTW UK version 1.21f
    1. Download the German (or any other language version (I used German)) of 1.27f
    2. Install it to it's own directory (NOT the PTW directory)
    3. Make backups of Civilization3X.exe, Text\labels.txt, Tex\script.txt, Text\Civilopedia.txt and Art\Leaderheads\CL_CULTB.pcx (you will need these to revert to back UK 1.21f once the real patch is released)
    4. Copy Civilization3X.exe and Art\Leaderheads\CL_CULTB.pcx for the German patch to your CIV3PTW directory
    5. Unzip that attached zip file containing edited English text files based on the changes of the German files from 1.21f to 1.27f and the English readme of the patch0(the English strings are in there)
    6. Test run your 1.27f version.

Note: Do this on your own risk
Any rules changes made for 1.27f (if any) are not copied by this method. The editor will not be the one of the patch, which means that you can't take advantage of the visible map option added.
You won't have the latest readme file and the file civ3id.mb (of which functionality I don't know, and which doesn't seem to have any effect on the game) will not be the one form the patch (as the English and German civ3x.id are different in 1.21f)

in another thread you said you've got a better solution using US _and_ german patch. what's different from this solution?

          thanks

The only difference is that I used the editor files and the bix file from this version. (If you do the trick from scratch then get the german and US patch (Take all files from the US patch that are present in the german patch (the US have are more files as it patcghes a longer history))) and copy them to your civ3ptw directory with subdirs. And than take the german (or any other EU) Civilization3X.exe as it's where the EU copyprotection is.

So, the only difference from my old solution is that I get the correct strings (If I did something wrong with my textfiles (Maybe wordorder or synonyms (The zip in the thread uses more correct (right? (haven't verified)) strings than the one in the other))) and that I get the correct editor in English (The german patch had the 1.21f editor in German, so I never installed that one)
