  • How good is Sid?

Does anyone have any real idea of how good old Sid is as playing the actual games he make?

I would imagine that having insight into how the game is built would give you the insight on how to beat it. He wouldn't have that sense of discovery or accomplishment we have.

When the game first came out, Sid was quoted as liking playing the English - which is odd because by huge consent they've always been the worst civ, especially back than with weaker commercial and expansionist traits. The UU is of course the games biggest design disaster, leaving some folks thinking "hmmm, the game does to the English what Hollywood does - take the piss"

Maybe he played the worst civ because knowing the ins-and-outs so well he liked the challenge of playing a crippled lamer.

Having just written this I realise that the early F15 was a dud unit too. Must be some anglo-saxon thang! At least Abe's boys got industrious though.

He purposely made the English like that so he could play a crippled lamer.

My guess is that since the game is done and he is not much involved in the addon, he probably does not play at all. At the office it is the current project and at home it is the family. I saw him on a TV show talking about console games with the kids.
I doubt that he has logged the kind of hours some of the players here and other boards have in CivIII and surely PTW.

Really! You figured that out all by yourself or did you just want to post more superflous things.
I mean to say we don't really know, what is the point of that? Obviously we do not know. Hence the term I guess.
Sorry to be so blunt here, but you seem to make a habit of this type of post and often behind me. I do not mind being proven wrong, but at least wait until I am.

I remember from somewhere that Sid likes Simgolf and other games. I don;t think he plays Civ3 much.

The question I have ALWAYS had though, is who at Firaxis is the mack-daddy kick-everyone's-butt player, and why doesn;t that person show up here at 'poly?

panag I am sorry to have been so rude. Just to note that it was not a case of posting behind, when one has a quote in their post of mine.

I like the English for the same reason. The quicker you get them off the island the better.

who ever thought of calling Americans "Anglo-Saxons"?

The only involvement Sid had with Civ 3 (any version) was the name on the box.

Therefore, I'd surmise that his skills are probably pretty iffy at best, though I could be wrong.
