green moldy looking things

Hi my first or 2nd time posting here,

anyways I looked through the entire civolpedia and I couldnt figure out what those green kinda moldy looking things are on land tiles it seems they dont effect anything on the square but I really want to know what are they?

Might be uranium. Used for nukes and nuclear plants.

Are they on grasland/plains?

It might be helping icons used to indicate how much good you get from a particular square.

So far I have seen them on hills grassland deserts and plains.

They sounds like the bonus indicators to me, though seeing them on Deserts and Hills seems weird. Are you using some sort of modified terrain and have you changed the game recently?

thats food , ..... a small iron colored one means a bonus grassland or plain , it gives an extra shield , ....

the display of these can be turned on or off true the preferences menu , ....

Nope, I'll bet its a fortification. They look like green blobs in some ages, and provide nothing but defense bonus.

I don't recall the fortresses looking green...

It depends on the age, but that threw me for alog time. I finally realized that once in awhile I would accidentially hit fortification, instead of road. Then I would get the greenish round looking thing.
