sabrewolf, can you post one where the letters are white, the square is blue, and the beam is red? Thanks, and good work...

The colors should definitely be burnt orange and navy blue. Okay, maybe that's just because I graduated from Auburn University, and those are our colors . I tried to find an icon version of Auburn's "AU" logo just to see if any ideas sprang from it, but it doesn't look like that's necessary with Sabrewolf on hand.

Ooh, I like that one. In a few days I'm going to post a poll about which icon the general populace prefers. Sabrewolf I'm pretty sure one of yours will win.

Gee, a yet another Civ III Civgroup. How many badges are really needed? No, this starts to get too much soon.

Gee, yet another "I know what's best for you" comment from Rasbelin. Tell me, why is it "too much"? How do the number of civgroups here effect you in any way?

If you have a constructively critical comment on why AU shouldn't have a civgroup then I'm sure we'd all be glad to hear it.

Yet another useless comment by FP. Touché.

What's too much? Well, having already 43 different Civgroup icons makes it rather confusing to keep track with what's what, despite they have the text specified with ALT. Now the point is that more and more people start to have something like 10 or more different icons, which makes their postbits look cluttered and serves no point as they're stuffed into one small spot and then you're supposed to recognise people based on that. Soon there's a jungle of Civgroups and it gets more confusing to know what all icons are for. So it would be better to keep the system plain and simple, by showing the icons in user profiles, the Civgroups listing and memberlist. They're already nicely organised and explained there, so people can instead check there if they need to find other similar users. Also can be expanded to the search system for a more versatile solution.

All of those things are problems with the way civgroups are displayed in general, and I'd agree with you on most of them. However, it doesn't preclude the introduction of an AU cigroup. I agree that for many reasons, system load not being the least, moving the civgroup icons into the user profile or something similar would be a good solution. Of course, that'd be a decision for Dan to make.

Not a troll - just a statement that only draws conclusions, but excludes all details.

no, he's got a point here.
there are quite many and i've seen some with iirc more than 2 rows of icons. don't see too much sence in that. and all the PTW-DGs have their own signs... when they're just approx. 10 per team? (sorry, if my figures are wrong). it wouldn't harm to have a certain limit, going by importance.

and for that reason, AU should be in. after all it hopefully will be one of the great things of apolyton, if it works out as planned...

anyway... i'm still waiting for some more competition

It looked more readible to put the U over the A.
