  • Gain advance when capturing a city ?

    Hi,
in CIV and CIV2, you gained advances of the city's civilization you capture.

In CIV3 it seems not to be like this ?

You got that right. There's no such feature in Civ3.

      Thanks for your response.
What a pity...and there are not others ways to gain advances despite spying or sparing ?

        You can gain advances:

        - by researching (the natural way)
        - by finding them in goody huts
        - by trading for them (required, if you want to keep pace)
        - by demanding them as price for peace (also a kind of trade)
        - through espionage

            Yes.
The best peaceful ways are research and trade. Personally I prefer research. I can then sell some techs, earn money, increase research and so on. It is a virtuous circle. For example I am at the beginning of the Moderne Era, I have a tech leadership of 3-4 techs, all my income is spent for science and I earn about 300gpt.
