World map - territory map

It is just a suggestion, but I would like to be able to sell my world map without my territory map. I could so protect my territory and still earn money.
What do you think about this?

Do you mean you want the world map to still have your territory gray or do you want that area to not be "updated" when you sell it?

I choose bananas anyway 'cause I really don't put any weight into my maps, unless I'm playing an islands world and don't want them to know where I am. If they use my territory map to come get me... I'LL BE WAITING!!!

Yeah i kinda like the idea although i'm much more likely to sell my territory map then my world map. Thats because of when i've discovered some juicy territory that i want to settle first then i would give my territory map but not my world map to ensure (hopefully) that the computer doesn't beat me to it.

I do however like the idea so i did vote in favour of it. The idea does present some interesting concepts that are currently floating around in my head.

I thought the AI already "knew" where all the juicy spots were (hence their bee-line the the tundra 5 generations before any resources are visible)... so it wouldn't really matter if they have the map, does it?

I see ur point mimi.

I was meaning more in the view that there is an island or something similar offshore a bit and the AI doesn't know about it yet technically (due to not having discovered it) and wanting to keep the settlement rights of this island totally to myself i won't then trade a world map just to stop the AI from settling there.

However for ur point it no doesn't really matter whether u trade maps or not.

been asking that for over a year now , yes it would be a great idea

actually why not go a bit further with this and sell a WM without the territory maps you want , you could for example sell a WM but without the TM of your friends , ... a great thing in mp

That is true. For example, in my current game, I did not trade my maps, but the Frenchs sailed directly to the other side of my island to build a city on toundra.
In fact my proposal would be far more interesting for MP games.
