  • AI aggression level

I often read comments in the forum about the AI aggression level being progressively higher as you move up in difficulty level. Is this true?

Naturally the AI bonus at higher levels should make them more demanding towards you (in the early game), and more willing to go to war due to their extra staring units. But does the AI autmatically become more agressive when you move from regent to monarch level?
Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy. The savage's whole existence is public, ruled by the laws of his tribe. Civilization is the process of setting man free from men.

Nope, the aggression levels for each civ remain the same across all difficulty levels.

There is, however, also an 'aggression trigger,' whereby the AI civs "react to their environment" and will focus more on things military if warranted.
The greatest delight for man is to inflict defeat on his enemies, to drive them before him, to see those dear to them with their faces bathed in tears, to bestride their horses, to crush in his arms their daughters and wives.

Duas uncias in puncta mortalis est.
