  • Small Civ3 info snippet on new governments

Forgive me if this is old news, but...

I just read the new issue of Pelit, the pre-eminent Finnish gaming magazine, and it had a snippet about Civ3: Conquests. Maybe three or four sentences, telling basically that there was a Civ3 XP on the way, but what caught my attention was:

"...and new governments like sultanate or a Confucian bureaucracy."

I don't remember if that's the exact form, since I don't have the magazine and the snippet was in Finnish, but I remember quite clearly that it mentioned the Confucian bureaucracy.

Thoughts? It would seem like they're starting to incorporate religion in with the governments.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

"Highest are those who are born wise. Next are those who become wise by learning. After them come those who have to work hard in order to acquire learning. Finally, to the lowest class of the common people belong those who work hard without ever managing to learn."
Maybe it'll be a good scientific government...

Wow, Confucius. I like it. I wonder what else we could see, a catholic theocracy? A buddhist commune?

Confucianism really isn't much of a religion, but more of a philosophy. Westerners in the past have often simply denoted what they saw as "religion" simply as "religion" because they did not understand (nor care to understand) what it was that existed in the East.

A "Confucian Bureaucracy" would be similar to the old system used by Imperial China in which you would have to pass a certian exam, which is centered on the Confucian classics, in order to gain an official position.
"When we begin to regulate, there is naming,
but when there has been naming
we should also know when to stop.
Only by knowing when to stop can we avoid danger." - Lao-zi, the "Dao-de-jing"

The Confusion Buracracy is something new that I didn't know before

I assume it is the complex Buracracy of Ancient (Medieval?) China

Since they seem to be really complicating governments, any shot of a Carthaginian Mercantocracy?

Interesting. It would be nice to add some easier tools into the editor to make new governments. This sounds like it might be something between republic and monarchy. Cool.

                    Hmm...

Maybe some of these are scenario-only governments?

Yeah, I think your right player1, the government sound too specific(Confucian Bureaucracy, sultanate) ... to be generic government!!
