Ship movement

I have a question about ship movement. I have noticed the when i start building magellans voyage my caravels lose 1 movement? is it just me or does this seem strange

I thought they're supposed to gain one

caravel

a caravel gets 4 to start with. Some time between the time i start building magellens voyage and the time i get don building it it drops to 3. then when magellans voyage is built it gets the 4 movement point back.

i think you build the great lighthouse. i believe that gives you one extra movement point until a certain tech... can anyone confirm that?

AFAIK, it's Magnetism, and that fits. Why didn't I think of that?

Caravels move three tiles, four if you have the Great Lighthouse. If you discover Navigation and build Magellan it stays at four. Once you discover Magnetism the Great Lighthouse becomes obselete and only Magellan gives extra movement.
