I have a 19" monitor in 1024x768 mode... no matter how I fool around with the display modes... I can't see the whole screen when I start Civ. So I can't reach any of the X O buttons on the screens...or any of the buttons of the top of the screen.

Does anyone know how to force Civ to run in a mode I can see...or any setting in Windows XP that won't cut off the edges of the screen?

    Thanks

    Hi Daverz:

    First:
The default resolution in Civ3 is 1024x768 in 16bits. So maybe your monitor is set larger when he is in 16bit than is 32 bits. So start Civilization3 and try to resize your monitor with the integrated button on the monitor. After that, you will never get to do that again.

Secondo: (only if the first doesn't work)
I remember in Civilization3 1.29, you was able force the game to appear in your resolution.
So put in your ptw.ini, this line with the wanted resolution:
    Video Mode= 1024 or 1152 or 1280

    So good luck,

    Dom,

I have this problem with a lot of games, and I agree with Cronos - a lot of times I have to adjust the monitor manually rather than fiddling about with Settings/Display icon.

It means I rarely have more than 1 game loaded at a time. As I have small (but very fast) hard drive I can't really complain.
