    I have a problem.
I haven't been playing Civ3 for quite some time now.
Then i just installed it. I played and it works out fine. But when i installed the patch (1v.2....i think) and ran the game. I couldn't. It just displayed a 'Enter CD Key' message.
Oh. One more thing. when is the new versions for Civiization coming out? Like Civ 4? Will there be?

    Aight thanks.

You run Civ3 only or Civ3 PtW?

      Vassili :

There are different potential reasons :

      - you run a pirated copy of Civ3, wether a rip or a direct CD-copy. If you patch it, it will update the security, and your previous crack to bypass it is obsolete. You should buy a honest copy, it avoids many headaches.

      - you run a localized (i.e anything but American) copy of Civ3, and have taken a patch for the US version. Take a patch which is in accordance with your version, uninstall the game, then re-install it and apply the correct patch. It doesn't work the other way around too (for example, if you have the US version but have taken the UK patch)

      - you run Civ3 normal, and have taken the latest PtW (Play the World) patch. It can not work.

Could you please be more specific about the patch you installed ? It might help us to find the source of the problem

I had a similar problem. If you patch Vanilla Civ your old games won't load.

I didn't mind too much - the bug fixes and improvement were worth it, but with the editor of 1.29 I was truly grateful.

I think vassili1985 is getting this when he's starting civ3, not loading a game, right?

In that case, something strange is happening here. As I'm Norwegian, I guess I'm running the UK version, and during my installation, there was no asking for CD-key. Does the US version have this? In that case, it might be the wrong patch as some has suggested here.

Hmmm...i'm not sure. I borrowed it from my friend. It doesn't look like its pirated. comes with the manual too.
Sigh...in that case ill wait for the new one, if there ever will be.
            Thanks anyway dudes.
