Anyone know if it is possible to watch the AI play without being in the game yourself?

But why would you want to?____________________________

Ah, I see your point - AI strategy research. But alas, unless someone else knows of a work around, I don't believe that it's possible.____________________________

I guess the question should be: Is there a debug mode for PTW? If so, can this mode let you watch the game without being actively involved in it?____________________________

Well, you could watch the AI using the debug mode without really participating in the game. You, technically would be in the game, not would be a non-factor. I saw someone else set up a map and made a 1-tile mountain island where they made it the human's starting location. As long as you are far out in the ocean, the AI won't bother you until very late in the game (when they finally find you) and in the meantime you can watch the AI. Since you can't found a city on the mountain, you won't have any city management things to worry about, either.
