  • Last time! Where to build?

OK - we have heard all the arguments for and against. We have one poll that says 6-2, and other 0-4 - for a) where we are now or b) the hill on the point.

Last chance. Vote now. Polls close at 5pm (est) this aft - when I have to play the trun.

Because of the vocal threats by the Bob civs - I vote for the hill.

Read my post in the alliance thread first. There might be strategic considerations that go against the founding of a city on Bob.

Here, south of the cow, this turn.

A stack of immortals in the city with walls, even on plains, can withstand any horsemen they send. Any swordsmen they send will be easily taken out in the open plains next to the city. By the time they have knights we will have two more cities (B1 and B2) up in the hills for better defense, Then the production and strategic location of being within three tiles of B1 and B2 will be more important.

Here is another possibility. If we settle on the plains it provides an attractive city to give to GoW after the war with GS is over if they would be willing to commit additional resources to help against GS.

The site on the hill is too useless. They could put a few units two tiles away and block us from doing anything. It would require the city to have additional defenders that will cost us more than the city will provide. Ever build on those one tile islands? Essentially that is all the hill site will be.

Now that we have finally built a city of Bob ... We should be able to turn this to our advantage:

Let's inform GoW that we built the city (Wittlich West) on Bob to lead GS to the belief that we're after Bob territory - This will give us time to build up a force against GS and (hopefully) GoW will go along with this and realize our main intent is against GS (after all, if they [GoW] are offering to help us in our fight against GS, what is only lonely coastal city after all?).

With a city on Bob, the "Bobonian" civs can post their dismay with Vox on the open forum and this will hopefully lead GS to the asumption that we're expanding north vice south.

It is a long shot...but if we can pull it off...
