Because of Harry's exhaustive and in-depth research/trial-and-error, I have changed my vote to having Wittlich Ost south of the cow. See referenced thread for complete explaination.

We should consider returning to the Hills tile, for the case the situation degrades to war.

I would actually suggest we either

        a) move back to the hill

        or

        b) move west to the hill/coast tile next to the cows. Two turns to get there.

And I like b). Claims the land - and lets us build on the hills to the south next - and the Wittlich Point. Three cities on hills. All within 3 of the point. Nice set-up.

        No cities on the plains.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I dont think we should do it.

            1) We might get attacked on the way to that tile.
            2) Even if we manage to found a city there, it will take more time for reinforcements to arrive in the case of war.
            3) It will piss them off even more.
            4) We might encounter borders very close to those hills, and founding a city so close to other civ's borders without their agreement is an unofficial hostile act.

With the current hieghtened tension with other civs on Bob, I have to concur with Jon - Put Wittlich Ost on the hill and place it there quickly. Right now, we have no city on Bob so we actually have no claim to a piece of the land. Once we have the city built, we will then have a viable claim.

Unless we are going to put more cities on Bob I would rather pull our settler back. It will take an excessive number of units to protect it compared to having the city on Estonia and we will spend turns shuttling units and workers back and forth to support one city.

On the other hand, having a city there gives credance to the GoW ranting and raving about our invasion and supports the smokescreen.

yes we need that smokescreen. If GS gets any idea of what may be coming, we could lose out on a lot of techs.
