I would like to see if we can lay out a plan for the next couple of turns 6-10 If we could. This will allow us to decide what to do and have a more organized ideas bouncing around.

Ok so i guess this is a "plan ahead thread"
"Do not honour the worthy, And the people will not compete. Do not value rare treasures, And people will not steal. Do not display what people want, And the people will not have their hearts confused. A sage governs this way: He empties peoples minds and fills their bellies. He weakens their wills and strengthens their bone. Keep the people always without knowledge and without desires, For then the clever will not dare act. Engage in no action and order will prevail."-Loazi "The Classic of The Way and Its Powers"

Macy - great idea. I was thinking of something along the same lines on the weekend. So at a course I was on today - I used a few of the boring moments to jot down some thoughts, and maybe get the discussion going.

Some are longer term ideas, some short term plans, some random thoughts.

    1. City Expansion

Where do we go next after Wittlich Ost? We have the previous city plan for Estonia, but if we are into an expansion race on the continent, we should direct our cities there. We can always fill in Estonia later. On the other hand, we don't want to get too exposed on the continent with out the military-industrial complex back home to back us up. A lot will depend on what it looks like when we get over there.

    2. Wittlich Ost.

I suggest walls are the first build.

    3. Libraries

We need some. They are cheap for us - and do a good job of boosting culture, and more importantly, research, especially in larger cities.

    4. Use of Immortals

The value of our Immortals will diminsih greatly as we enter the next era and pikemen and med.infantry beome available. Whatever our foreign policy stance is going to be we should keep that in mind. The counter argument of course is delaying or Golden Age further.

    5. Speaking of foreign policy - some questions:

    a) how do we want our long-term relationship with GS to develop. They may drop the trade relationship pact after the free science tech. They may be getting the sense that we aren't a world 'player'.

    b) where do we see our long-term alliances? I am looking to RP and Lego.

    c) do we want to pursue an early continental war, given #4 above. GoW and RP and Vox vs NeuD?

    6. Tech Trade

    a) I'm wondering if GoW has clued into the fact that they are the only ones researching construction. They can refrain from trading, and beat everyone else to the next era by a tech. They would still be in despotism though - unless monarchy is kicking around, and I don't think it is.

    b) as mentioned in the RP FA thread, we need a plan to get currency and construction. We are accumulating gold now, (108 plus 12 per turn) but also need 40-80 of that for warrior upgrades. Do we start researching something, or do we buy it. At 24 and 30 turns at 100% research rate (-4gpt), that represents 384 gold for currency (24 times (12 plus 4)), or 480 for construction. I'm sure we can buy them for a lot less than that.

    Comments? Other ideas?

jon et al - I think we need to start thinking about 5c.

I like the idea of a pre-emptive strike, rather than waiting for them to come at us. Which I suspect they will sooner or later. We will need GoW and RP on-side. Or at least GoW.

          Any other comments or thoughts?

I do not think we are ready for a war.

I am a little uninformed, because I have not been able to get to my e-mail today. With that said, and from what I have read in the posts this is what I think we should do.
              1. Make a deal with GOW for Construction and gold.
              2. make a deal with RP for currency.
              3. Move Spearman W.
              4. Settle on the hilltop.
              5. continue 0% research.
              6. Get more settlers and Immortals. (I am afraid of war with ND. we have too small an army)
              7. ALSO we need to get more library's built

Following up on jon's comment in the GS FA thread - two key pieces of infrastructure we could use are:

                1. Granary in Miller Town
                2. Library in The Voice (and other places as well - but let's start here).

How do folks feel about some forestry to rush these projects?

Pop rushing is the other possibility - but I am loathe to do that, especially in the Voice, as we need the pop points for settlers.

I will take a look at the save tonight and see what the possibilities are. Harry, if you could do the same, I would appreciate it.

I am ok with rushing these projects with forests, but not with pop. I am a big advocate of Rushing settlers over to settle, with Spearmen and immortals to protect them.

I don't have a problem with using forests to rush projects. I do it all the time. We need to keep track of where we chop since it can only be done once per tile.

Granary in Miller Town - Yes.
Library in The Voice - No. I would rather see The Voice as a worker/settler/unit farm. I have a proposal for this I am writing up.

Pop rushing - The only place I would do that is in Dissidentville. Its production capacity is small (until Republic and a Courthouse is built) while it has plus food tiles for good growth. I would like to pop rush a Courthouse there so that once we go Republic it will turn into a good producer.

                          I agree with this idea.
