  • Next Research path?

mathematics: at 90% (0 gold) it is 20 turns

writing: at 90% (0 gold) it is 16 turns

polythesium: at 90% (0 gold) it is 29 turns

writing isn't all that useful if we get it from GS. They should get it in 2 turns. So I say we get writing from them and one of research philosophy and the other code of laws.

I just like making polls to make sure .
    5
    mathematics
    20.00%
    1
    writing
    80.00%
    4
    polythesium
    0.00%
    0

    The poll is expired.

I voted for Mathematics. I have not caught up on everything yet but I gathered that we already have Iron Working. With Mathematics it will put us in good position for Construction to get Aqueducts.

If you think we will get Writing from GS in a couple of turns it is fine by me to wait at 0% science. If it will take longer then we should not waste our time and go for Mathematics.

Update - we expect to get math in a trade from Glory of War next turn. If not, we can get it from Lux Invicta sonn after that.

The plan is to wait on writing from GS - one or two turns - and then we will research phlosophy and they will do code of laws. We are bee-lining togeher for the republic.

We have lived and sweated (well, sort of) this stuff for the last couple of weeks, so it may take a few days for all the pieces to fit together.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I went through most of the threads. Only part way through FA. Way to much in FA for me to finish now. I need to get home to make dinner and take care of my dogs. I saw the prospect of getting mathematics and that GS was ready to get a trade deal pending on Writing. I should be able to finish tomorrow or Saturday.

Don't sweat it. Sometimes - as is the case now - there are long lulls between turns.

Math is a good thought. Construction is always important. We are also trying to go for the Republic. We flirted with monarchy, but I feel republic is in our best interests.

Looks like we all agree to wait for GS's writing.

Don't forget to put up those techs beta. With any luck they can resond by putting up writing.

Since we have a deal going that will help us get to Republic quickly that looks like the best route.

A Religious civ can afford to make an extra government change to Monarchy first. In my SP games, especially if I am Militaristic and Religious where I start with two techs towards Monarchy, I will make a beeline for Monarchy. I can usually get it about the same time AI civs get Map Making and sometimes before they do. For the second half of the Ancient age I then have a production, research, and growth advantage. I snag a few wonders and leave the Ancient age ahead of the AIs. Since we are not Religioius and have a quicker route (with the deal) to Republic it doen't make sense to go for Monarchy (unless we want it later for the HG wonder).
