Well, quite franky, we're not hurting for new members anyway... so I wouldn't worry about actively recruiting.____________________________

Hi folks. I was pm'ing a new guy in the demo game, HarryH, trying to get some idea about him as he had only 2 posts and signed up for the intersiteDG. He seems more than OK, and would appear to have a strong civ3 background. You guys interested? I can post the PM's if if you like.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Now - I'm not pushing this guy, I hardly know him, but he is on the inter-site game, and he posted a good dissertation on civ strengths. So, I think he knows the game well enough.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

Hi guys - took your advice and wrote HarryH. Here is my note, and his response. And notice he likes dogs .....
RE: PTW-demo game
quote:
Hi HarryH. BetaHound here again. I was wondering if you would be interested in joining our team in the ptw-demo match, and if so, what would you see being your role? We are a small team - Vox Controli - 6 members listed, 4 active.
Some questions - How do you rate your technical civ3 knowledge, your ability at writing and foreign affairs, and your suitability to the give and take and compromise of team discussion.
You would not be one of our players right off the bat - but everyone is involved to some extent. We are a pretty easy-going group - with no constitution or the like. Anyways, please give it some thought, and let me know.
Thanks. And Cheers! Beta.
HarryH's response:
Maybe. Time is my concern. That is why I said I was interested in participating in the intersite game but probably not as an officer. In a few weeks activities with my dog clubs be starting. Between that and work I keep myself busy. I guess I would have to know more about the setup and how fast things will move so I can evaluate how much time it would take.
Civ3 knowlege - Pretty good I think. I am sure there are others more knowlegable. If we tested all Civ3 players out there I think I would come out above average, based on what I see in some of the posts. I have won every game (all SP) I played, by every victory condition except UN vote, on various levels up to and including Emperor. I don't know why but I have not played diety. Lately I have been playing around with the editor to try and setup games in different ways to see if I can make them interesting. The AI is getting boring.
Writing - I am pretty good at writing technical manuals and writing an analysis of data collected. Not so good at the role play stuff.
Foreign affairs - I talk to some people in Canada once in a while and we're still friends. In Civ3 I seem to have a different approach to Diplomacy with the AI than others.
Teams - I work in and lead teams all the time at work. My dog clubs are also sort of a team. I know that teams work best when the members feel they are a valued part of the team and that discussion results in better ideas. Sometimes though when there isn't a consensus a leader has to make a decision while keeping in mind what the goals of the team are.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Well...
1. that he responded to your questions - a plus
2. His response was rather in depth - a plus
3. His honesty at having limited time (don't we all) - a plus
I say, invite him into our family!____________________________
